The Institution's Innovation Council (IIC-SLC) was established in 2018 under the initiative of the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell (MIC), Government of India, in collaboration with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). As part of a nationwide network of Innovation Councils across Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs), IIC-SLC aims to foster a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and creative problem-solving among students and faculty members.
The council provides students with opportunities to explore innovative ideas, develop entrepreneurial skills, and transform concepts into impactful solutions through mentorship, industry engagement, hands-on learning experiences, and startup-oriented activities.
By bringing together students, faculty, industry experts, entrepreneurs, and innovators, the council creates an ecosystem that encourages collaboration, experimentation, and knowledge exchange. It also supports aspiring entrepreneurs through various stages of innovation, including ideation, prototype development, pre-incubation, incubation, and startup creation
Key areas of focus for IICs encompass:- Ideation Workshops – Stimulating the generation of novel ideas for products, services, and processes.
- Problem-Solving Challenges – Tackling real-world issues through collaborative efforts and innovative solutions.
- Proof-of-concept development: Supporting the transformation of promising ideas into tangible prototypes
- Design Thinking Training – Equipping participants with methodologies for developing user-centric solutions.
- Intellectual property rights (IPR) awareness: Educating and guiding individuals on protecting their innovative creations.
- Project management skills development: Providing the necessary know-how to effectively manage innovation projects.
Through its initiatives and collaborations, IIC-SLC contributes to strengthening the innovation ecosystem within Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) while empowering the next generation of innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs:
