Read MoreThe Fine Arts and Photography Society: The Fine Arts Society is constituted every year with students intakes of upto 10 members through auditions on the basis of their experience and interest in the fields of Photography, Craft, Painting etc. The Society is led by staff advisors from the Fine Arts Committee. This Society hosts a unique SLC Art Exhibition event every year during winter which runs for two days. This is a platform for all budding artists in the college to display their own creative art works. The society also organizes competitions such as poster making, photography and so on. If you have any art in you, this is the platform to be.

Fine Arts, Craft and Culture Society
The University of Delhi organised an inter college wall painting competition in the north campus to celebrate 150th the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. 28 teams from various colleges of Delhi University participated in the competition. Shyam Lal College(M) was the only college to have two teams in the event. This competition was even more special as this was for the first time Fine Arts, Craft and Culture Society of the college has participated in wall painting competetion.
An area of 12" × 8" on wall opposite to Arts faculty, North campus was given to each team for painting. The theme chosen by team 1 was -'Gandhi and non-violence' and theme of team 2 was- 'India after Gandhi'. Each team consisted of five members each. Team one had Shaheen, Monika, Rakhi, Dishi and Jayant. The members of team two were Mayank, Aakash, Nishi, Sonali and Sumit. Dr. Gayatri Chaturvedi and Ms.Anuradha Malik were teacher coordinators for the competition.
Firstly the students painted the walls with white color as base for painting. Then they used various types of colors such as spray colors, acrylic colors, oil colors etc to paint their ideas on the wall. The complete wall painting took about eight hours. The SLC wall paintings in north campus stand testimony to the creativity and talent of students.
Our Principal sir, Dr. Rabi Narayan Kar is a perennial source of inspiration for students. Sir specially visited the competition venue in north campus to encourage the students and appreciate their efforts.

Fine Arts, Craft and Culture Society
The event of 'Vasantotsav and Republic Day Celebration' was organized by "Fine Arts, Photography and Culture Society" in Shyam Lal College, University of Delhi on 22nd Jan 2018.
It was commenced by a small speech by the Convenor of the society, Dr. Gayatri Chaturvedi to show the importance of Vasant Panchami in Indian Culture. It was followed by the lightening of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana sung by seven students. The function was made motivational with the words of the Principal, Dr. Rabi Narayan Kar, who motivated the students to achieve a lot of success in near future and to do good work for the community. In his remarks, he also congratulated the Society and its members for organizing such an event and for bringing in the concepts of Saraswati Puja which help in depicting various cultures of India and also is associated with the field of education. He expressed his hopes and wishes for achieving many more laurels to the college in the near future.
Following the formal inauguration in the Seminar Room, various competitions like Rangoli Making, Singing and Poetry on patriotic theme, Calligraphy, Painting and Sketching were conducted simultaneously at different venues in college. There were different themes for the competition such as Depicting Cultures of different states of India, Rajyon ki Sanskritiyan, Women Empowerment, Swach Bharat Abhiyan and many more. More than 100 students from the college participated in the above mentioned competitions.
Dr. Alka Sharma presented mementos along with certificates to the winners, and first and second runner ups. The teachers from the organizing committee of the Fine Arts Society Dr. Shyam Sundar Prasad, Dr. Srinivas Mishra, Dr. Niranjan Chichuan, Dr. Surbhi Sehgal, Ms. Rapti Mishra, Dr. Rekha Kaushik and Ms. Suman Rani coordinated and helped in judging the above events. The support from the non-teaching staff of the college was greatly valued by the Society members in the proper running of the event.
With the support and encouragement form the Principal and with large number of student participating in the competitions, the event proved to be a great success.

On the occasion of Teachers' Day the students of Fine Arts, Photography and Culture Society participated in the Orientation programme and Card Making Competition. Dr. Gayatri Chaturvedi, Mr. Abbassuddin Tapadar and Mr. Anuj Kushwaha conducted the Orientation programme to highlight the activities of the Society for the present session. This was followed by Card making competition. A large number of students took part with great enthusiasm. Following is the list of five Winners:
